History of Megan Company
Megan began its operations in 1990. It was founded by three partners in Kraków, right after the significant economic and political changes in Poland. The mutual complementarity and understanding among the owners have ensured that the company’s management board has remained unchanged since its inception. This continuity provides stability and allows for the full use of the experience gained over the years.
The first years of Megan’s operations involved acting as the general representative in Poland for the Dutch pet food manufacturer Witte Molen. The distribution network established at that time delivered a complete range of products to stores—often for the first time in such a comprehensive way. We were pioneers in providing customers with broad access to a wide selection of pet food. What seems obvious today—being able to buy products for our pets during regular household shopping—was made possible in the early 1990s thanks to Megan.
In the year 2000, the company’s potential and the experience gained enabled us to start our own production under the Megan brand. Our market entry was highly visible, as we were the first in Poland to introduce a new packaging method using plastic buckets, allowing customers to clearly see the product inside. This marked the end of the “buying blind” era of carton packaging. Our solution was soon adopted across the entire industry, changing packaging standards for years to come.
Since 2000, we have been systematically expanding our product range, introducing new pet foods and updating packaging formats (buckets, bags, cartons).
A significant milestone was the introduction of a full line of products for feeding birds, including those that remain in Poland for the winter. These products were very well received by customers and have maintained a leading market position in this segment for years. Many of our ideas and product designs have been successfully copied by other companies, which speaks to their high quality.
To promote proper feeding methods for our small friends, we have been actively participating in trade exhibitions since 1991. It all began with the Pet Fair in Łódź, of which we are one of the founding participants.
Since 2006, due to the rapid growth of our export business, we have been present at the world’s most important trade event—Interzoo at Nuremberg Messe in Nuremberg. You’ll always find us in the same location: Hall 2, Booth 622. You’re warmly invited!
Since its founding in 1990, our company headquarters has been located in Kraków, on the quiet Kazimierza Chałupnika Street. In 2006, due to rapid growth, we moved just 400 meters away to a larger facility at number 14.
Throughout our history, we have been continuously expanding the group of Polish and international companies we work with. We are constantly broadening our product range based on customer suggestions. New available technologies allow us to achieve ever higher product quality. Our in-house laboratory continuously monitors the quality of our animal feed, and production is carried out under the constant supervision of the Provincial Veterinary Officer, in accordance with current Polish and European regulations. We are continuously expanding our machinery and logistics facilities.
